- Youn was born to Asian-American parents hailing from Korea.
- His father was the eldest of nine children. He grew up on a rice farm in rural Korea.
- Just after Youn was born, his father decided that he would become a doctor after growing up.

And invariably a week or two later she would be dating someone else. Someone better looking than me."
